İstanbul Gelişim University was founded in 2008, it has nearly 2500 students in its 3 faculties with 11 programs and 25 two-year programs in its Vocational School. Gelişim is situated in the center of the biggest city of Turkey, İstanbul. Our campus is located in Avcılar, which is one of the most favourite industrial locations in İstanbul. Metrobus station is very close to Gelişim so the inner-city transportation is easy. As known, Turkey is an inexpensive country compared to other EU countries which makes life easier for incoming people.
We have signed Erasmus bilateral agreements with 12 universities, namely:
We will welcome new partners to sign bilateral agreements and implement students and staff mobility exchange in the framework of Erasmus Programme. We believe in the positive effects of exchange students on the host students. Therefore, mobility of the incoming students will be promoted by any means.
We are effectively implementing ECTS for all departments. Furthermore, a Diploma Supplement in Turkish and English is given to students to improve international transparency and facilitate academic recognition. All course contents are published on the web site. A special curriculum module in English will be available for incoming Erasmus students by the first term of 2012-2013. In the meantime, our Erasmus coordinators will help incoming students to choose their courses. Courses in the framework of Erasmus Programme will be or as joining students groups or in the form of individual tutoring.
Incoming students will be offered an orientation by the Office. They will also be assisted by the Office to find accommodation in one of many dormitories around the campus. Tutors will be appointed for each student to help them integrate into the new local environment. We will also pair incoming students with our volunteer students. Incoming students can benefit from intensive language courses in the neighbouring universities such as Istanbul University. Incoming students/staff have free access to computer laboratories, libraries, indoor facilities, health care services and shuttle for metrobus station.
We fully respect EU's policies to combat discrimination and implement the principle of equal treatment irrespective of gender, ethnic origin, religion or belief. We are also committed to struggle with any form of discrimination if they ever occur. We strongly promote gender equality, as the current ratio among academic staff is in favour of women (60%).
